Annotation rationales
Germinal-centre B cells are activated B cells undergoing clonal expansion, somatic hypermutation and affinity-based selection within lymphoid follicles.
Functional implications
They generate high-affinity memory B cells and long-lived plasma cells while eliminating poorly selected or autoreactive clones.
More specific populations
Marker and functional descriptions are atlas annotations. Explore gene expression, trait associations and regulatory elements in the interactive browsers; see the browser guide.
