Annotation rationales
Dendritic cells are professional antigen-presenting myeloid cells specialized for capturing antigen and activating T lymphocytes. The class includes conventional, migratory and plasmacytoid lineages.
Functional implications
They link innate sensing to adaptive immunity by presenting peptide–MHC complexes, supplying co-stimulation and directing the polarization or tolerance of T-cell responses.
More specific populations
Marker and functional descriptions are atlas annotations. Explore gene expression, trait associations and regulatory elements in the interactive browsers; see the browser guide.
