Annotation rationales
Age-associated B cells are an activated, antigen-experienced B-cell compartment often marked by T-bet, CD11c and inhibitory Fc-receptor-like molecules. They accumulate with age, chronic infection and sustained inflammatory signaling.
Functional implications
They can participate in rapid antibody and antigen-presentation responses, but their expansion is also associated with autoimmunity and chronic immune activation.
More specific populations
Marker and functional descriptions are atlas annotations. Explore gene expression, trait associations and regulatory elements in the interactive browsers; see the browser guide.
