P2RX5
Annotation rationales
P2RX5, an ATP-gated cation channel, suggests sensitivity to extracellular ATP—a DAMP abundant in inflamed tissues. In naïve B cells, this can couple microenvironmental damage cues to Ca²⁺ flux and cytoskeletal changes, modulating motility and priming thresholds without full activation.
Functional implications
Functions as an ATP-sensing naïve sentry that adjusts migration and responsiveness within ATP-rich niches (HEVs, inflamed follicles). By integrating DAMP signals, it helps naïve cells avoid inappropriate activation yet increases readiness where pathogen damage is likely, improving spatial positioning for productive priming.
