Marker genes
GATA3, RORA, IL7R, KLRB1, PTGDR2
Annotation genes
GATA3, RORA, IL7R
Annotation rationales
Type-2 innate lymphoid cells are antigen-receptor-negative lymphocytes programmed by GATA3 and RORα to respond rapidly to epithelial alarmins.
Functional implications
They produce type-2 cytokines that promote barrier repair and anti-helminth immunity, but can also contribute to allergy and airway inflammation.
More specific populations
Marker and functional descriptions are atlas annotations. Explore gene expression, trait associations and regulatory elements in the interactive browsers; see the browser guide.
