Annotation genes

AHNAK, EZR, MYL12A, TAGLN2, VIM

Annotation rationales

AHNAK and EZR organize actin–membrane scaffolds, while MYL12A and TAGLN2 regulate actomyosin contractility. VIM strengthens filament flexibility for migration, and CD55 helps prevent complement attack during tissue transit. This program typifies plasmablasts moving through mucosal stroma and docking near epithelia.

Functional implications

These plasma cells migrate within mucosal tissues to position themselves near epithelial barriers, guided by cytoskeletal remodeling and adhesion dynamics. Once localized, they anchor and continuously secrete IgA, ensuring antibody delivery directly into mucus layers. Their motility also allows them to redistribute in response to focal infections, thereby concentrating IgA production where pathogens attempt entry. In this way, they serve as mobile IgA depots that combine secretion with barrier-proximal surveillance.
