Marker genes
ATP13A3, CCL2, CD44, CTSC, CYTOR, EMP1, FN1, IL1R1, LMNA, MIR4435-2HG, PLAUR, PVT1, SERPINE1, SLC20A1, SPHK1, THBS1, TNC, TNFSF12A, VMP1
Annotation genes
CCL2, IL1R1, PLAUR, SERPINE1, THBS1, TNC
Annotation rationales
IL1R1 and CCL2 mark cytokine-responsive, myeloid-recruiting fibroblasts. SERPINE1 (PAI-1), THBS1, and TNC stiffen and reorganize ECM, biasing toward provisional matrix typical of granulation tissue. PLAUR (uPAR) coordinates pericellular proteolysis with cell motility; SPHK1 channels sphingolipids into inflammatory mediators.
Functional implications
Recruits monocytes/neutrophils to the adventitia and builds a stiff, provisional matrix that limits aneurysmal dilation but risks fibrotic thickening. Sets up a scaffold for endothelial repair while tuning plasmin activity to avoid hemorrhage.
