Annotation rationales

A subset of cTECs adjusts Notch ligand availability (DLL3) and actin dynamics (VASP/PLEKHG2) at epithelial–thymocyte synapses, shaping motility and signal strength as thymocytes traverse cortical zones. Chromatin/transcriptional modulators (L3MBTL1/SUPT5H) support rapid state changes.

Functional implications

Creates guidance “corridors” that meter Notch exposure and motility, smoothing stage transitions (e.g., pro- to DP) and preventing ectopic signaling. Enhances the spatial organization of the cortex for efficient education while preserving epithelial cohesion.

Marker and functional descriptions are atlas annotations. Explore gene expression, trait associations and regulatory elements in the interactive browsers; see the browser guide.
