Marker genes

CD3E, HLA-DPB1, HLA-DQA1, HLA-DRB1, HLA-DRB5, KLRC2, KLRC3, LAG3, LILRB1

Annotation genes

KLRC2, LILRB1

Annotation rationales

Co-expression of class II (HLA-DP/DQ/DR) with KLRC2/KLRC3 supports an adaptive/antigen-experienced phenotype that can interact with T cells. LILRB1 (ILT2) introduces an inhibitory checkpoint sensing HLA-G/HLA-A/B, damping overactivation; together they define a regulatory-leaning adaptive NK.

Functional implications

Antigen-experienced NKs that modulate T cells via class II while applying LILRB1 brakes to avoid tissue damage during chronic stimulation (e.g., persistent viral antigens). Execute selective killing but prioritize cytokine regulation and immune homeostasis.

Marker and functional descriptions are atlas annotations. Explore gene expression, trait associations and regulatory elements in the interactive browsers; see the browser guide.
