Marker genes

BAG3, CLK1, DNAJA1, DNAJB1, DNAJB4, HSPA1A, HSPA1B, HSPA8, HSPB1, HSPD1, HSPE1, HSPE1-MOB4, HSPH1, ID1, ID3, JUN, JUND, TECR, TRA2B, UBB

Annotation genes

DNAJB1, HSPA1A, HSPH1, JUN

Annotation rationales

Broad heat-shock/chaperone induction (HSPA1A/B, HSPH1, DNAJB1) indicates ER and proteotoxic stress buffering. JUN/JUND/ID1-3 suggest transcriptional adaptation and stress-driven proliferation restraint. This program allows LSECs to survive acute inflammatory or metabolic surges.

Functional implications

Stress-buffering protectors: stabilize proteins, limit ER overload, and preserve fenestrated morphology under inflammatory/metabolic insult. They protect sinusoidal patency and filtration, preventing collapse or barrier breakdown during systemic stress (e.g., sepsis, ischemia–reperfusion).
