Marker genes

ARAP2, BAZ1A, CCL2, ICAM1, ITGB3, NFKB1, NFKBIA, NRIP1, PTPN1, SOD2, TNFAIP3, VCAM1

Annotation genes

CCL2, ICAM1, NFKBIA, TNFAIP3, VCAM1

Annotation rationales

ICAM1/VCAM1 upregulation provides firm leukocyte adhesion platforms; CCL2 attracts monocytes/macrophages. NFKB1 drives pro-inflammatory signaling, while TNFAIP3 (A20) and NFKBIA add negative feedback to NF-κB activation, preventing uncontrolled damage. SOD2 buffers ROS, maintaining mitochondrial viability during inflammation.

Functional implications

Immune-recruiting endothelial cells: orchestrate monocyte/T cell entry into sinusoids, amplify local inflammation, but simultaneously deploy NF-κB brakes and ROS detox to sustain perfusion. They act as immune gatekeepers, balancing leukocyte recruitment with protection of fragile sinusoidal architecture.
