Marker genes
ADAMTS9, APOLD1, CDK17, CREB5, CXCL2, CXCL3, FLT1, HSPA1B, NSUN6, PTPRM, RAPGEF1, SLC20A1, SLC38A2, STARD13, TLE4, TNF, TNFRSF10D
Annotation genes
APOLD1, CXCL2, CXCL3, FLT1, HSPA1B, TNF
Annotation rationales
TNF induction with CXCL2/3 recruits neutrophils; APOLD1 (VERGE) is an endothelial stress gene linked to permeability and vesiculation. HSPA1B signals proteotoxic stress; FLT1 (VEGFR1) can buffer VEGF to restrain leakage. Adhesion/Phosphatase/GEF components indicate cytoskeletal and junctional re-wiring during activation.
Functional implications
Acute inflammatory switch: mobilizes neutrophil/monocyte trafficking, transiently increases permeability, and damps excess VEGF signaling to limit edema. Aims to clear pathogens/damage while deploying safeguards that restore barrier integrity after the inflammatory wave.
