Marker genes

ACKR1, CALCRL, FLRT2, IGFBP5, PLVAP, PRCP, PRICKLE4, RAMP3, RASA4

Annotation genes

CALCRL, PLVAP, PRCP, RAMP3

Annotation rationales

CALCRL+RAMP3 form the adrenomedullin receptor, promoting vasodilation, endothelial survival, and barrier protection under shear. PLVAP marks fenestra/diaphragms that allow controlled macromolecule passage at arteriole–capillary junctions. PRCP regulates kallikrein-kinin/angiotensin peptides, shaping tone and permeability. Together they define an interface EC that gates flow and exchange.

Functional implications

Pre-capillary gatekeepers: dilate arterioles in response to ADM, shield the barrier from inflammatory injury, and provide selective permeability for nutrient/albumin flux at the arteriole–capillary junction. They filter chemokine and peptide signals, smoothing hemodynamic transitions into the capillary bed.

Marker and functional descriptions are atlas annotations. Explore gene expression, trait associations and regulatory elements in the interactive browsers; see the browser guide.
