Annotation rationales
Immediate-early transcription factors (FOS/JUN/ATF3/EGR1) together with chaperones/co-chaperones (HSPH1/HSPA8/DNAJB1/BAG3) and CDKN1A define a rapid “alarm” program typical of stromal cells sensing mechanical strain, catecholamines, hypoxia, or cytokines. This state transiently suppresses proliferation/differentiation while protecting the proteome and restoring homeostasis.
Functional implications
Stress-sensing buffer for the niche. Dampens acute damage by enhancing proteostasis and transient cell-cycle arrest; integrates inflammatory or nutritional cues and then resets the stromal compartment so adipogenesis can resume appropriately. Also likely emits short-lived paracrine signals that coordinate immune and endothelial partners.
